Insights from the E team at A Beautiful Green
What does it really mean to work at a B Corp consultancy?
For many organisations, becoming a Certified B Corporation™ represents a commitment to responsible business, transparency, and long-term impact. But beyond the certification itself, working within a B Corp consultancy means helping companies transform their strategy, operations, and culture to create positive environmental and social impact.
At A Beautiful Green, sustainability consulting goes beyond advising companies on frameworks and certifications. It is about supporting organisations on their B Corp journey, helping them measure their impact, improve governance, and embed sustainability into everyday business decisions.
For B Corp Month, we asked two members of our team, Elif and Edwige, the E Team, to share their perspectives on what working in a B Corp company means in practice.
Interview
1. Beyond the certification, what does working at a B Corp mean to you in practice?
Edwige:
For me, working at a B Corp goes beyond the certification itself. It means being part of a company where impact is considered in everyday decisions whether we are supporting clients on their sustainability journey, sharing knowledge through articles and workshops, or engaging with the broader impact community. In practice, it’s about constantly asking how our work can contribute to more responsible and resilient businesses.
Elif:
Working at a B Corp means that employees, nature, society, and clients all have a voice in the decisions a company makes. As an employee in a B Corp consultancy, it also means sharing the values of the B Corp movement, trust, collaboration, collective decision-making, and a strong commitment to creating value beyond profit. It means putting people at the center, developing solutions that work in harmony with nature, and taking action rather than simply maintaining the status quo. In many cases, it means being willing to lead the change rather than waiting for it.
2. Can you share a concrete example where impact became measurable in your work or a client engagement? What made you feel particularly proud?
Edwige:
One example that stands out was conducting a carbon footprint assessment for a company and helping them translate the results into a concrete action plan. Seeing the data turn into practical steps, such as identifying key emission sources and defining reduction priorities, made the impact very tangible. Even if many sustainability projects take time before their results fully materialise, contributing to that first step toward climate action felt particularly meaningful.
Elif:
The B Corp journey is not a process with a clear beginning and end; it is a continuous path of improvement. Companies need to keep measuring, tracking, and strengthening their environmental, social, and governance practices over time.
One of the most rewarding experiences for me was seeing how a company we supported through its B Corp certification continued evolving afterwards. Observing the progress they made in their recertification journey, the initiatives they implemented to improve their impact, and hearing from their employees about the positive changes within the company made me feel very proud of the work we had contributed to.
3. What makes A Beautiful Green different as a B Corp consultancy, and how do we ensure sustainability is embedded in our daily operations?
Edwige:
What makes A Beautiful Green unique is that we don’t just advise on sustainability, we are part of the ecosystem ourselves. Our team actively contributes to the B Corp and impact community through events, workshops, and knowledge sharing. At the same time, sustainability is reflected in our daily operations: from how we collaborate internally to how we engage with partners, clients, and initiatives that promote positive impact.
Elif:
A Beautiful Green lives the values of the B Corp movement in its own way of working. Beyond supporting companies in their sustainability and B Corp journeys, the team actively contributes to the wider community and participates in collaborations and advocacy initiatives. It is also a company strongly committed to continuous learning and development, supporting its employees to grow and deepen their expertise in sustainability. And ultimately, this approach ensures that sustainability is not just something we recommend to clients, but something we practice in our everyday work.
Conclusion
Working in a B Corp company means going beyond strategy and frameworks. It means embedding sustainability, responsibility, and collaboration into everyday decisions. As these reflections show, impact is not only measured through projects and metrics, but also through the people who drive meaningful change within organisations and communities.
