How does the EcoVadis assessment work?
The EcoVadis methodology is based on a rigorous and transparent approach aimed at reliably assessing the CSR maturity of companies. It is based on seven key principles that guarantee the credibility and relevance of the assessment. Firstly, the analysis is strictly evidence-based: companies must provide concrete documents such as CSR policies, certifications, reports, or performance indicators (KPIs). Unsubstantiated claims are not considered.
The assessment is tailored to the profile of each company, considering its size, sector of activity and its geographical scope, to ensure a fair and contextual assessment. In addition to the documents submitted, EcoVadis draws on a variety of independent sources, including NGOs, trade unions, public databases, regulatory authorities and external auditors.
Each file is examined by an international team of CSR experts, specially trained in the standards and best practices in the field. This work is based on a robust technological platform that enables large-scale, secure and consistent digital evaluation.
Transparency and traceability are at the heart of the system: each decision is justified, and companies have free access to their rating sheet and to the proposed areas for improvement. Finally, with a view to continuous improvement, the EcoVadis methodology evolves regularly, thanks to an internal quality system, an independent scientific committee and feedback from users, to provide companies with ever better support in their sustainable development.
