In a Divided World, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Is Our Common Ground
As global business landscapes and societal dynamics evolve, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are no longer confined to human resources strategies. They have become hallmarks of strong leadership, resilience, and long-term vision.
Yet over the past year, the conversation around DEI has shifted. Some companies have scaled back their diversity programs, citing reasons like “operational realignment” or broader restructuring. These decisions suggest a growing reluctance to fully embrace inclusion as a core value. But in this moment, clarity and courage are needed more than ever. One question stands out: Will we actively protect inclusion and equity—or allow them to quietly fade away?
At A Beautiful Green we view DEI differently. For us, it is not a temporary trend—it is a cornerstone of sustainable growth. Inclusion drives innovation. Diversity broadens perspectives. Equity strengthens trust.
In short, DEI is good for business—and even better for people.
🇱🇺 Diversity in Luxembourg: Built Into Everyday Life
In a divided world, Luxembourg stands out as a model for how diversity can thrive in everyday life. This harmony is no accident; it is the result of shared values and a collective commitment to inclusion.
With nearly half of its population being foreign-born, Luxembourg demonstrates the power of cooperation across languages and cultures. In schools, workplaces, and public spaces, diversity is not only visible—it is the standard.
This inclusive mindset is supported by structured initiatives. According to the 2024 Diversity & Business Barometer, published by IMS Luxembourg: [1]
- As of September 2024, 330 organizations had signed the Diversity Charter Lëtzebuerg, representing 22.9% of the national workforce.
- An impressive 88% of these organizations are actively engaged in corporate social responsibility (CSR).
- 67% have appointed a Diversity & Inclusion officer, with the figure rising to 74% in larger companies.
- More than 90% offer flexible work arrangements, reflecting a commitment to equitable work environments.
At A Beautiful Green, we are proud to support and contribute to this progress. As a signatory of the Diversity Charter Lëtzebuerg, we are committed to turning words into action, championing diversity and inclusion in every project we undertake.

🇪🇺 DEI Across Europe: Policy, Progress and Culture
Across Europe, diversity, equity, and inclusion are not just ideals—they are strategic and ethical foundations that drive economic growth and societal cohesion.
The European Union’s progress is both measurable and impactful:
- In 2024, the Gender Equality Index scored the EU at 71 out of 100, marking a 0.8-point rise from 2023 and a 7.9-point gain since 2010. This scale, where 100 represents full gender equality, reflects steady progress. [2]
- The most significant progress has been in the area of Power (+19.5 points), which represents “gender balance in decision-making roles”. Although improvements are visible, disparities remain, with the EU average still at 61.4. [3]
European initiatives reflect these priorities:
- The InvestEU Programme allocates funding to advance gender equality and social inclusion, including support for women-led enterprises and inclusive innovation.
- Horizon Europe places DEI at the heart of its funding strategy, requiring Gender Equality Plans from public institutions and encouraging inclusive research teams, intersectional analysis, and diversity-sensitive innovation processes. [4]
These initiatives demonstrate that DEI is not just a policy—it is a pillar of Europe’s innovation and societal resilience. Beyond gender, the EU promotes diversity across various forms, including disability rights and LGBTQIA+ inclusion. Through initiatives like the EU Anti-Racism Action Plan and the Disability Rights Strategy, Europe reinforces its commitment to inclusivity.
Each May, European Diversity Month renews this commitment, calling on businesses and communities to actively embrace inclusion.
Why DEI Matters — In Business and in Society
On this Luxembourg National Diversity Day, celebrated during European Diversity Month, we reflect on the true value of DEI:
🔹 Ethically, DEI means fairness, voice, and dignity. It ensures that all people feel seen and respected, regardless of their identity.
🔹 Strategically, DEI enhances:
- Decision-making
- Innovation
- Organisational resilience
- Brand trust
At A Beautiful Green, we don’t just talk about DEI—we live it. We apply its principles in our projects and champion its importance with our clients. Because sustainability only works when everyone is included.
